Learned multiple aspects of advertising while being overworked, underpaid, and terribly managed.

I worked at McCann Worldgroup full-time for more than a year

    Pros

My department gave me a lot of freedom to independently manage my own projects. I was continuously challenged with new responsibilities and therefore learned an incredible amount.

    Cons

Unless you have a stellar boss, clients can demand 100% of your time, day or night. (It's advertising, true. But a great manager knows when to say, "sorry, this will have to be the first thing accomplished tomorrow morning. It's 8pm"). There was a poor work/life balance and an inequity between team members regarding workload.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Smaller teams and departments seem to go unnoticed by upper management. Overall corporate goals and values were not reflected in my department. There seemed to be very little appreciation for the hard work and overwhelming hours that my team committed over the years. It was extremely rare to see a promotion. Even rarer for someone to get a raise.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Positive Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
