Current Employee - Anonymous Employee in Burr Ridge, IL

Pros

Competitive compensation and big cubes

Cons

No training available and the systems are terrible to use since they are not made for both the print and digital worlds. Also upper mgmt will do anything and I mean ANYTHING to hit their numbers since their AIP payout is tied to this.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper mgmt needs to invest in training and the systems but I know they won't since all they do is lookout for themselves.

The culture changed dramatically after the sale - for the much worse; no more fun or heart.

Former Employee - Senior Sales Representative

    Pros

Products are innovative and cutting edge (adaptive learning), colleagues (editors, authors, marketing and support staff) are great (but not management). Customers are where companies get their revenue but at times management is not aligned with that.

    Cons

Cronyism, ageism, cut backs to status, benefits, compensation - even for the successful. Lack of concern or respect for long-term contributors, including authors.

    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Work Life Balance Flexibility is why I took the job, but it is dependent on your manager. Employees are very passionate about the industry

    Cons

Company is transition, staff reductions make it feel like you are working with a skeleton crew. Communication is top down only. low morale high stress and inter-departmental fighting

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop minimizing communication/feedback from lower levels. Exec's validate each others position which makes them out of touch.
