I worked at McKesson full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

PSIP, great healthcare coverage, top-notch knowledge sharing at the Support level, non-exempt (overtime pay), very casual workplace atmosphere, opportunities to telecommute

Cons

High stress environment (not the workplace itself, but the fact that there's such a steep learning curve with the various McKesson products and a high demand from customers), irregular hours (See "non-exempt" above, you'll be working nights and weekends), few opportunities to progress your career, sparse training, talent retention

Advice to Management

With respect to the Support division, upper management needs to have a better understanding of the company's various products and what it takes to support them. Also, a severe problem exists with retaining talented employees; upper management needs to invest more into the employees themselves instead of the umpteenth strategy to rearrange the seating chart.

I have been working at McKesson full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Large company with good benefits and financial rewards

    Cons

Bad leadership at executive level. People tend to work way too hard and get burned out. Little reward for the hard work that people provide.

    Advice to Management

Success within the business will only go as far as the people will take you. Take care of the individuals doing the work and you will be able to achieve more.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at McKesson full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Competitive pay and benefits. Given significant responsibility and flexibility and decision making authority to get the job done. Focus on results. High performing co-workers.

    Cons

Very demanding and not a good work life balance (see this consistently across the entire organization in the Employee Opinion Survey, not just my group).

    Advice to Management

Invest more in the employees. The miniscule percentage invested in merit rewards does not reconcile with the record profits these same employees produce for the company.
