I worked at McKesson full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

well established .. 180 years old
Fortune 14 .. over $1.2 billion in profits
    largest player in healthcare oligopoly

    Cons

Management favoritism is rampant. If not in favor, an employee is akin to the U.S. soldiers captured as Korean War POWs described in the book, "The Bucket List".
Older employees can forget about advancement.
Lots of employee development talk, very little employee development walk. Remindful of George Orwell's book "1984".
May be part of the healthcare problem, not part of the healthcare solution.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Implement more transparency in career advancement through McKNet. Give everyone access to open positions. Throw away multiple job titles .. call a spade a spade.
Fire or retrain middle management that are examples of the Peter Principle and who have no regard for the older employees they manage.
Find the talents in your older employees and put them to use in running the company. Instill more dignity and respect throughout the organization.
Invest heavily in Connect to make it the most reliable and used ordering portal in the industry.

I have been working at McKesson full-time

    Pros

Lots of very senior folks with 10-25+ years with the company, a lot of folks to learn from.

    Cons

    Less than stellar healthcare coverage.
Despite soaring stock growth, employees get only modest pay raises, while having one of the highest paid CEOs.
Some poor rules about amount of possible pay increase when getting a job promotion or switching positions, can stifle your income growth despite skillset.
    Very traditional corporate culture.

    Doesn't Recommend
