Pros

Great brand to have on your CV
Opportunity to learn about a lot of sectors in a relatively short period of time

    Current Employee - Engagement Manager

I have been working at McKinsey & Company full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    1. Good place to learn basics that will put you in good stead for later e.g. problem solving, people management, communication
    2. Opportunity to meet and be known to very senior professionals across industries

    Cons

    1. Too much travel leading to very little time spend with family and friends. Especially in countries where Fridays in office is not a norm. Sometimes i miss even basic stuff like paying phone bills because I simply have such little time!
    2. Long hours can lead to health issues - I know of many people who have chronoic back problems because of sitting in one position on a computer for too long
    3. Although the firm prides itself on providing mentorship opporutnities, true mentors are hard to find as everybody is just trying to get done with their own work, most of the time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Engagement Manager and above, the stress of ":ticking the boxes" and doing too many things should be removed so people are happier and less stressed. This will ensure they spend optimal time of the most useful things, and not spread themselves too thin.
