I worked at McKinsey & Company full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

You will never run out of new, interesting things to work on. The benefits are gold-plated. You work with exceptional people. The Firm commits huge resources to continuing development through formal training, and on-the-job experience.

Cons

There is a lot of work that is wasted all for the sake of maintaining appearances with clients or because a project was poorly scoped. The environment is pretty intense and people are stressed by deadlines most of the time. Growth opportunities on the research path are difficult to define.

Advice to Management

Diversifying into different service lines is likely necessary for the Firm's survival, but management needs to do a better job of integrating them all culturally.

I have been working at McKinsey & Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Autonomy and camaraderie are two of the most compelling reasons to work here. Exposure to expert, intelligent leaders who will spent time coaching is also a big plus.

    Cons

Travel and hours can be a drag. Client services is also an inherently challenging area and a lot of the job is managing expectations, figuring out how to explain ideas to clients, and re-doing analyses to fit new specifications.

    Advice to Management

Keep encouraging connectivity among junior people
