I have been working at McLane Grocery full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Good pay and good benefits. Equipment is fairly new and kept up. Trucks are maintained well. Company does a lot of door prizes and dinners for the drivers.

Cons

Hours having to work. Work all shifts of the day. May work 24+ hours at a time. May be gone from the house 80+ hours a week only making 20 dollars an hour. Most routes are shortened so you can run legal, but the pay is cut back a lot.

    Pros

New equipment. Benefits are ok. Wages are ok but for the work they want you to do it could be more.

    Cons

Management lies. Work you to death in the summer starve you in the winter. Nit pick about EVERYTHING! Play favoritism.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just let the drivers do their job.

I have been working at McLane Grocery full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

If you are a driver, then the pay is not too bad. It is on par with other companies in the area. What makes McLane stand out above the crowd is its 401k matching. It is the best hands down!

If you are a loader on the grocery dock, life is pretty good.

    Cons

Salaries for mid-level management on down to teammate level is below average. McLane expects supervisors to work 50+ hours a week, and they do not get paid overtime. Teammates are considered expendable, no matter how long they have worked for the company. The new management does everything within their power to find every safety related incident preventable, frowns upon non-preventable rulings, etc... Most importantly, senior management does not follow nor support McLane Company's Beliefs and Values.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

McLane recently celebrated its 120 year anniversary. The company has lasted this long because the leadership before the current team at Southwest believed and invested in the teammates. Teammates are the company's #1 asset. They are not expendable and they are not slaves. Quit treating them as such!
