    Pros

Above average wages. Adequate health care benefits. $401K with employer matching and pension plan. Opportunity to move up fairly quickly. Stable company.

    Cons

Permanent rotating shift work, the Southern Swing Rotation at this plant. The work is inherently dangerous, can require a lot of mandatory overtime and can be very hot (100+) in the summertime.

I worked at MeadWestvaco full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great to be part of a company that is on the cutting edge packaging solutions. Good employee benefits with fair compensation. A high emphasis on work safety. The branch had a small company feel with large corporate backing.

    Cons

Hard to advance without relocating. Few employee reviews. Sometimes hard to know what to improve on. Paper products on decline. Division did not fit with corporate vision to adapt to a more technologically based society.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More interaction between between locations may improve operational procedures.
