I have been working at Mechdyne full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Mechdyne has some really innovativeand technical people. Previously the focus was on delivering high end and complex AV systems but the scope has broadened to general AV and enterprise wide technologies. Mechdyne is seeing substantial growth particularly in the Oil and Gas Market as customers are looking for higher quality and well supported systems. Its good to have readily accessible support within the company to assist with customer concerns in both IT and AV.
All systems are fully staged and tested prior to being delivered so there is a noticeable difference in quality for customers and less stress onsite for the team.

Cons

Headquartered in Iowa and really the center of the Mechdyne world. Not as large as the big AV companies who can receive larger discounts from manufacturers and sometimes offer lower prices.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue with the strategy of putting the customer first. Mechdyne's values are the core of our identity and earn respect in the industry.
Further investment in regional offices to service customers would help minimize costs.

I worked at Mechdyne full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

-Travel the world if you haven't done that
    -Lots of great people
-Get to work with cool tech

    Cons

    -Poor pay
-Overworked (12-14 days up to 6 days a week)
-Managers don't get it, they burn people out and toss them away when they don't want to travel
-The promise way to much to customers and make their employees try to deliver. Very unrealistic schedules
-Management isn't honest and didn't display core values in my opinion
    -Terrible communication!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Do what you say you are going to do
-Pay your good people a little more
-Keep experience around and you won't have to have people work 80 hours a week to get the job done. They will get it done in less time, for the same cost to you (maybe less when you don't have the hotel as long), and everyone will be happier.
-Above all else, fix the communication issues!
