    Pros

You know exactly what is needed, which actions are measurable and how you are performing. Provides strong (inflexible) work structure.

    Cons

Micro-management, loud stressful work environment, no personal space - first come first served on workstations. You are expected to be ready to start your shift, but in order to start on time you have to log into several programs - you are expected to do that on your time. Regular shift changes and mandatory overtime can cause havoc with your personal life.

You might as well get out after a couple years and see what the competition is offering

I have been working at Mediacom Communications full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Discounted cable and internet is a nice perk. Many of the co-workers are helpful and friendly

    Cons

Promotions in the company are generally given to people who aren't very good at their current jobs. If you are valuable in the position you're in, you will never EVER be promoted. It's also helpful to brown nose management to get promotions. No brown nosing = no promotions ever. The company believes in barely having a skeleton crew of support staff, so if you need someone to help you follow through with a sale, you'll need to wait forever. Mamagement is way behind the times, compared to the people we sell against. Products are poorly thought through, and commissions and salries are sub standard, so management can make obscene commissions on our backs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve the sales comission structure. Support staff are even more underpaid, causing high turnover and overworked employees, making it harder to close sales. Begin an honest assessment of how to sell against competition. Eliminate all of the senior management in the company, and replace them with people who understand the internet, and basic technology. Quit being so conservative that the competition easily sells against us. Sales does not have an incentive to over achieve. For a small investment in people and technology, this company could thrive. But everyone in management is too scared to even stick their neck out.
