I worked at Meditech

Pros

Outstanding work/life balance, and absolutely NO stress!

Cons

Awful, awful, awful salary & benefits. Everyone talks about how you make a lot if you stay long term, but this is an empty promise. The only thing you'll make more of is debt. Everyone gets the same tiny raises, no matter if they are the worst or the best performers.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay competitive salaries, and stop allowing incompetent & lazy people stick around with no penalty.

Grossly underpaying company, but lots of job security and a descent work environment.

I have been working at Meditech

    Pros

If Job security is a big thing for you, this is the place to be. This company isn't going anywhere anytime soon, and the market for hospital software isn't going anywhere either.

    Cons

Horrible salary compared to similar positions at competing companies. They underpay by a lot. Management tends to promote and hire people who, while having a college degree, they still make you question whether or not they actually earned that college degree (doesn't apply in all cases, there are exceptions here, but they usually end up leaving the company for a much better salary).

Ever see the movie Office Space? If you haven't, rent it. This will show you what it is like to work for Meditech.

Other than what is mentioned above, the work environment is at least decent. People are mostly friendly and generally fun to be around (when they aren't annoying you with their lack of any knowledge).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your employees better and start offering a 401K, as opposed to just having a useless "Profit Sharing Trust."

I have been working at Meditech full-time for more than a year

    Pros

As a programmer, most of the time you get some exiting tasks, even though its a proprietary language. Good working environment and encouraging staff overall good working experiance

    Cons

Technology is still 80 s and really feel that some modules haven't caught up at all, of course the GUI has changed over time but that's basically it.
Some seniors can be very self-centered have built a fence around them which makes juniors life difficult.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on keeping up with the new technologies, more towards web and cloud based which is the trend these days, if not feel like we are on a loosing battle.
