Pros

Resources of a large company. Ability to move around within the company to different positions. Strong corporate vision and mission. Talented coworkers.

Cons

Bureaucracy of a large company can take a long time to get things done. Corporate structure prevents much career advancement without being a manager.

I worked at Medtronic as a contractor

    Pros

A stable company with medical device manufacturing, no much competitors as any thing passing FDA's approval will not be short time. So job security is good.

    Cons

Need to catch up new tech and improve internal process.

I worked at Medtronic full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Huge budgets. Generally nice people. The products they make genuinely save and improve lives. You can always feel good about your end product.

    Cons

Huge company. In some cases, there are 9+ levels from engineer to top management. They might not all have direct lines on the org charts because they did a reorg to hide it, but the same chains of command are still there. You can do nothing but come to your desk each day and drool and you'll get your 2% raise. You can put your life and wellbeing into your work and get 3%.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your employees. Set features + set timeline = failure.
