I worked at Medtronic full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Company works hard to do the right thing and treat people well

Cons

Too many mid-level managers that do not deserve their posts but seem to be protected by others in certain divisions

Advice to ManagementAdvice

-look at the pay scale for those who do the most work
-have more communication with employees to assess talent within and develop it appropriately

I worked at Medtronic full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

70k base typically. Autonomy as long has you're managing your business. Excellent communication between marketing, product development and the field sales team. Diabetes side has a patient valued product line. Management rather commingled....

    Cons

Ego driven and personality conflicts are not tolerable. Turnover can be driven by the individuals that spoil the pot.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the yes men and clean house. Start with the former Northeast Director who'd now assigned the NYC and go up from there. You've lost way too much talent to try and squeeze a dollar out. ROI for diabetes care is already there.

I worked at Medtronic full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good products with a high probability to help very sick people.

    Cons

Male dominated culture. Lack of deference to equally important parts of the company. Choosing unrealistic goals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Choose more realistic goals. Be more proactive to support females and minorities. Listen to all parts of the company to make goals in moving the company forward.
