    I have been working at Medtronic full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Great people to work with, opportunity for professional development, promotion opportunity, looks great on a resume

    Cons

    Management is frustrating, ideas are new strategies are forces upon us without consideration of how much they affect us and if the end result is worth the additional hours. Very political.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    The best companies listen to the advice of their bottom level employees. When implementing big changes it would be a good idea to have insight from high potential employees in the role of how this change would affect our work day.

    I have been working at Medtronic as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

    Company cares about employees;
    Offers good compensation;
    Has a very clear, positive mission, and to my surprise most of the employees take the mission to heart and try to live it out. Most co-workers (full time) I talked to were very proud of working there, saying that they were satisfied in both the products they are working on, the problems and the variety of problems they see (they don't get bored, while at the same time not overly challenged) and the way they were compensated.
    Company cares about work life balance; For example, in my building around 6pm lights would automatically turn of encouraging employees to leave earlier and not stay late (unless necessary)

    Cons

    Headquarters and most of the core facilities located in Minneapolis, Minnesota which is not a very good climate to live in.
