I have been working at Medtronic full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Sense of goodwill and accomplishment; compensation. Solid middle management.

    Cons

Obamacare is killing the industry causing mass layoffs, more hassles and decreased quality of care. Medtronic is beholden to the stockholders and there is a monthly/quarterly/yearly push to hit a number, regardless of what you have to do, including overstocking and jeapordizing future quarters quotas/numbers.

    Advice to Management

Rethink how mass layoffs are conducted of middle class people while the CEO is making $27 million per year. I think most people would have been willing to take a small percentage cut in salaries or commissions rather than cutting 1000's of middle class jobs. Analysts also need to rethink growth projections in a volatile industry. Upper management only cares about delivering growth for a stock price regardless of reality. This high level corporate greed affects common working people, while the high priced executives collect massive bonuses because they delivered on earnings per share. This of course is not limited to Medtronic, but unfortunately the way of the modern corporate fascist society we live in.
