I have been working at Medtronic full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Ample opportunities to learn many different disciplines. Verticle integration allows this. Oeople are a joy to work with. Benefits. Work/home culture.

    Cons

Highly regulated evironment stifles competive nature and innovation. No cutting edge tech. Many levels of mismanagement. Stagnant non-growing work force. People doing the jobs of 3-4 people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pick a direction and go with it. Don't spend years to decide in the end to go with thr cheapest, safest route.

Former Intern - Intern in Mounds View, MN
Former Intern - Intern in Mounds View, MN

I worked at Medtronic as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

    - Great work experience to put on a resume
    - Very inclusive company culture, employees always willing to help interns
    - Vast number of learning resources available to interns due to company size
    - Lots of fun intern events
    - Good pay and awesome housing arrangements downtown

    Cons

    - Most groups have no intention of hiring you after your internship
    - Almost no interns were hired on full-time (entry level job opportunities are slim-to-none)
    - Company is getting top-heavy; there were VERY FEW employees under the age of 30 in Minnesota, most are at the senior or principal experience level
