Pros

There is work life balance, most days I left work by 5:30. The salary is decent for the cost of living if you come from the outside. I found that people who worked there and worked their way up were paid considerably less than people they were bringing in from the outside. I enjoyed working with most of my co-workers.

Cons

Not much room for advancement. There is definitely friction between the people who have been with the company since they were 18 and worked their way up from the stores to the corporate office and the people who are being brought in from other companies for their expertise. The people who have worked there for years think things are fine and don't want to change. Some of the managers are intimidated by the new talent the company is bringing in as well. There are people in the organization who do not care for diversity and would rather is be an all caucasion environment

Advice to Management

keep working on creating diversity of culture and thought, get some diversity training for your employees

    Pros

Nice friendly place to work at, for the most part management is nice, teamwork is done sometimes and it's somewhat fulfilling line of work

    Cons

They dont pay employees well enough and they give crappy raises, the Union isn't any help if you have a problem.

    Advice to Management

Consider raising employees hourly pay, even a few dollars would make a world of a difference for people who are struggling to get by with minimum wage around $7 per hour

  2. Ok if you need no direction and have no life

    Pros

Pay / benefits not bad. Good learning experience.

    Cons

No direction from Store directors. Being streched to the limit on amount of work, not given enough associates in the department. And being forced to working more than your department.

    Advice to Management

Get out from behind your desk and meet your associates. Do the work.
