Current Employee – been working at Memorial Sloan-Kettering full-time
Pros – -People value and support the mission wholeheartedly
-There is incredible research being done by some of the best in their field
-Pockets of incredibly dedicated managers that will stick up for their staff
-Amazing name brand recognition
Cons – -Get ready to play politics because you if you work in "Corporate" you are generally not promoted based on merit or skill, but by how well you play the game
-People will be conducting the same type of work but one will be paid less
-Fragmented culture; depending on what division, area and who you work for, your work environment will vary
-If you are an exempt-level employee, you can expect at least 50 hours/week as the norm; people routinely work 12+hours
Advice to Senior Management – Some of the "Corporate" managers need to go. I have seen many dedicated, bright and driven employees burn out or get driven out due to politics. The entire culture needs to change and that starts with the top down.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
