I worked at Men's Wearhouse full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Constant chance of promotion to a point. Leadership in my region was good at a Regional level.

Cons

Work vs. home balance could be difficult as with most retailers.
Promotions dry up quickly unless moving to a larger market.

I worked at Men's Wearhouse full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Multi unit management structure is sound, its not to huge that you don't know who to contact and your questions don't get lost in some unending upper management pyramid. Its also not to small that things don't get done because they have no time for you.

    Cons

    Redundancy... so much redundancy.
Bad hours, in retail you have no life but the job.
    George, our founder, is gone.
They expect you to do most of your required out reach work on your own time. Do not give access to the internet to help facilitate contacting schools etc for prom sales opportunities, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't bribe your employees so that you can get on the Forbes top 100 companies to work for. Its just shady. Bring back the sense of family George brought to the business by treating employees like they matter, and there ideas and thoughts count for something.
This business makes its money by the hard work of the CSA's who sling those tuxedo rentals with there high profit margins. If you want to know how to improve your business, listen to those that actually work everyday doing the job, helping the customer, dealing with the crazy brides and annoyed grooms, the clueless teens and the penny pinching parents.

I worked at Men's Wearhouse full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Empowerment to make sure customers like the 'way they look'. Having fun is stressed. Pay is very good with good benefits, 55% employee discount!

    Cons

Erosion of company culture with George leaving has led to a lot less 'fun'! Company is shedding payroll with pressure of the J.Bank merger looming.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The loss of the special culture of TMW will threaten the future of the company. Tends to be a new regime vs 'old' regime which is dividing employees against each other and fearful for their jobs. Mgt needs to support the stores by stressing fun, service and to continue to be simple of making sure the customer 'likes the way they look'.
