I was a manager trainee at the distribution center and was promoted a couple times before I left.

Pros

It is a job. If you buy in, there are opportunities for advancement.

Cons

High turnover and poorly paid team members. Lazy or ill-equipped supervisors. Non-union.

Advice to Management

Drop the requirement of an undergrad degree to become a manager. There were plenty of capable people working there but have no chance of career advancement for lack of a degree.

    Pros

Profit sharing brings wages up a little, but is paid after the year is over. You forfeit if you quit or are fired.

    Cons

No tenure whatsoever. You can be fired on a whim or minor infraction at any time, no matter how long you have been there. No value placed on experience and loyalty. Poor health plans. No retirement match. My manager was a dishonest cheat but the General Manager refused to discipline him.

    Advice to Management

Recognize the value of the individual. Supervise the managers better.

    Pros

Spifs on paychecks, 15% Pizza Ranch Card, extra $2.50 on weekends.

    Cons

Rude managers, wanna be managers, people who are pets of managers who don't think they have to work, lazy managers, not enough staff to help out or if there is some of them don't wanna help. No chance for advancement unless you are buddies with the higher ups or relatives. Cut hours not enough hours in work week.

    Advice to Management

Advance people who actually show up and don't call in and quit hiring more people off the street if you are not making payroll as you call it.
