Pros

Learn a lot from the job since they hire very smart employees. Every employee gets his own room with pretty powerful workstation. 24 vacation days per year is fabulous. Work life balance is excellent.

Cons

There is a lot of bad legacy code in the project i worked in which crippled development of new features.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate important information to employees more proactively.
Need better co-operation between different groups.

    Pros

    15 days flexible day off.
Easy to get help from other project divisions or groups if needed.
Work culture is generally good as many of the offices and R&D centers are in Various countries like, USA, France, India , UK and Egypt and generally easy to communicate and get replies from remote sites.

    Cons

Difficult to get raise or promotion or move to the next level.
Benefits package is not that great.
Management does not stick to their decisions sometimes.
Company is top heavy and too many account managers, project managers , managers for small accounts.
Many managers work remotely and not accessible in person.
Managers /AE's waste too much money in travel.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Cut down too many managers.

Nice place to work, but being in the right product group makes all the difference

I have been working at Mentor Graphics

    Pros

Great Wilsonville campus with gym, putting green, walking trails, onsite pre-school and daycare. Family oriented place with 5 weeks of time off and flexible work from home options. Product groups operate independently, so being in a good one makes life good. We had free coffee and soda.

    Cons

Over the past several years, much of the software development has moved offshore to India and other places to cut costs. Bonuses have been scaled back to rarely pay out, plus stock option grants have been cut way back (like every else). EDA is just a tough market.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Product groups need to work together more while clarifying the revenue recognition per product. 360 reviews GMs and product line directors should be done. More innovation is needed for making money with the various products.
