I have been working at Mercer full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Great brand, great colleagues
If you like HR consulting, you can do a lot to advance your career at Mercer

Cons

Lots of top management churn. As a result, people seem to ignore leadership to the extent that we can and just do our jobs of serving clients.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn the HR consulting business. You didn't do that as an exec at AIG.

I have been working at Mercer full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Good Salary and benefits. Flexible hours.

    Cons

A time entry system and workload that keeps you tied to your desk. No structured training program, and because of the emphasis on T/E, no allowance for the time required to learn (and most learning is self-taught). Micro-managed by people that have no training in people management and often possess weak social skills.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too much focus on the bottom line, at the sake of hard working employees. The changes made in upper management beginning approximately 5 years ago were a mistake. Time to rethink things and get back to your roots. The company has become Top Heavy and impersonal.
