I worked at Merck as an intern for less than a year

Pros

Great company history, great resources available to employees and lots of promotion opportunities.

Cons

Big company can easily get lost in crowd. Possibly to many structures resulting in slow progress and delayed action.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure to stay flexible and in touch with what the needs are of the people on the floor. This will drastically increase response and productivity time.

I worked at Merck full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Innovative research done by excellent scientists.Good Hard working individuals willing to go the extra mile. Good benefits offered by company, child care available, cafeterias and company stores on sites.

    Cons

Upper management seemed confused. They would make plans, then change them. Tried to save money in the labs but spent money on unnecessary things. No job security, people always nervous about when the axe would fall on them. Culture itself sounded better than it actually was for individuals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop competing with each other. Make a plan and stick with it.
