Entrepreneurial firm, but lacking internal structure and systems

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsFast moving, entrepreneurial firm that moved into commercial, utility scale and residential solar systems. They grew very fast, expanding from 70 employees in the beginning of 2010 to over 240 by 2011.

ConsMarket meltdown in NJ exposed some glaring weaknesses in cash flow management, costing, and HR policies. Widespread layoffs among both important and peripheral staff led to serious discontentment and the eventual firing of the CEO. Today it is run by financial folks and much of the upbeat spirit has been beaten out of them

Advice to Senior ManagementCreate better internal SOPs on sales methodology and financing capabilities.

Installer (Former Employee) Port Chester, NY

I worked at Mercury Solar Systems full-time for less than a year

Pros: overtime. Field workers are easy to get along with. Cons: Company under bids on ALL of their projects which creates a ripple affect all the way down to drivers and installers. They look for ways… Advice to Senior Management: Re-evaluate yourselves. No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company… More
