I worked at Mercy Medical Center - Des Moines part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great salary, reasonable paid time off, insurance benefits are respectable.

    Cons

Mercy is owned by a corporation and it completely changes the goal of patient care.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It is easy to let employees under mid management get lost in the crowd. I can only imagine how difficult it is to juggle the needs of the patient with the requirements of corporation. I don't know how you would remedy that. This may be the new direction of health care.

I worked at Mercy Medical Center - Des Moines full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Work sort of matters, at least to the patients you work with every day

    Cons

TURNOVER IS RiDICULoUS. How is a hospital supposed to provide good care to patients when it's staff of nurses turn over every two hearsay and the majority are recent college grads? How are the employees supposed to support themselves on an un guaranteed raise lower than the standard of living? Management is so afraid of their bosses or losing their jobs that nothing changes and we suffer, meaning the care suffers. So much potential, wasted on fear and selfishness.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Wise up, treat your best workers like you want them to be there, stop dis incentivizing them., and stop being so afraid of the ivory tower people.
