Pros

The employess were incredibly smart! Lots of amazing talent. Even though it was an aggressive environment there were great relationships amongst coworkers.

Cons

Lots of turnover - job burnout - aggressive delivery timelines - long hours. Projects often were disrupted because someone left the company. Sales often over promised which caused difficulties when attempting to deliver to the SOW.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The management that was there is now gone so hopefully the new management offers work life balance.

    Pros

Your co-workers are your best asset at this company. Make the right friends.

    Cons

No work life balance. Crazy expectations. No career path. Management is clueless to what is going. No training except Google. You will get frustrated. Hard to understand your dev team because most of them are from India or China. No on-boarding process.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please create a formal on-boarding process.

I worked at Merkle full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

75% of the employees are hard-working and incredibly talented. Great brands and clients build resume.

    Cons

Long, long, long hours. No tangible benefits for long hours and hard work -- salary is okay, but certainly not industry-leading as the company claims. Additionally, Merkle is a hamster wheel -- growth opportunities are only present for those in select, mid to upper management positions. Adding insult to injury, mid and upper management seem frustratingly disconnected from everything. Crucial process initiatives are implemented painstakingly slowly. Perhaps the worst offender: there's a lot of smoke and mirrors. Management won't hesitate to bullsh*t you if they think it will convince you to work another 3 hours into the night... or keep you at the company for another month.

Burn out is inevitable; don't waste your time. At the very least, don't plan on staying longer than a year... and plan on a miserable year at that.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend a week in the trenches and understand why your employees are so frustrated. If you insist that employees work such long hours, at least pay overtime or offer other incentives. Also: stop with the smoke and mirrors. You've done a great job hiring smart people, don't insult their intelligence with your bullsh*t metrics and explanations.
