Promotion is based upon how well you kiss upper management's butt. Merit is based upon who you know and not the quality of your work. Commenting on your coworkers (same level) size, sexuality, speech, background is not frown upon but encouraged. Being a "clown" would get you noticed. Being a good "bs-er" will get you further in your career at ML.

Advice to Senior Management

Focus on the individual's actual output. What was the person hired to do? And not who in middle or upper management is buddy buddy with this person. Don't encourage people to talk sh*t about another especially when it has nothing to do with what he/she was hired to do.
