Former Employee - Agency Administrator
Former Employee - Agency Administrator

I worked at MetLife full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

I did not work in a big center but a field sales office. So had the advantages of a large company - such as great benefits and wide opportunity as well as the benefits of a smaller office - more informal atmosphere and a close knit staff.

Cons

Very structured. Not much creativity needed. "Corporate" was somewhat demanding and inflexible. Not too much Con actually.

I have been working at MetLife full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great company, great brand, and great products. Local support is good. Training and resources are abundant. Benefits are great and the retirement and matching 401K are excellent. Compensation is very competitive and the people are great to work with.

    Cons

Customer service is very poor and often causes more problems than they fix. If you don't need all of the benefits and services they provide advisors you will still have to pay for them in the form of giving up part of your commission. IT is behind and needs improving.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve IT and work to make customer service more knowledgeable!

I have been working at MetLife full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Strong benefits, good pay, and solid company. In general the employee culture is one of getting the work done correctly and quickly, and in the customer service call center the expectations are reasonable.

    Cons

It's a no hang -up call center, meaning that no matter how nasty a caller gets you have to stay on the phone. Sometimes the back office admin teams make decisions without even considering the impact on the customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try spending a week on the phones with irate customers every few months to remind yourself that every decision has consequences.
