I have been working at MetLife

Pros

(1) MetLife has great benefits.
(2) It has been good to me thus far, it gives you the ability to work in differnent areas
(3) One of the best managed and best estabilished financial services companies

Cons

(1) There is definately a lot of change or constant change in some departments. The company is rebranding its identity, trying to be more trendy and hip.
(2) Company is in an old industry which means it is dominated by old white men
(3) Very sales culture oriented, so everything is now now

Advice to ManagementAdvice

It is definately best to network to get into Metlife. It is a very specific industry so you will need to understand the language.

I have been working at MetLife

    Pros

Great location - building at Bryant Park if you are lucky
Work life balance - can have a 9-5 job, work from home
    Great benefits for new mothers

    Cons

    Very hierarchical
    Very difficult to grow
    Low pay
Managers are people who make the money and have all the perks

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize theat growing your employees is equally important to your success as cutting costs by hiring the cheapest labor to do the long hours and work

  2.

Unprofessional. Good old boys network. Life agents NOT Financial advisors.

I have been working at MetLife

    Pros

    Name Brand, snoopy and compensation,.

    Cons

In my opinion...Management speak with fork tongue. Agents promoted to management by gender because of a discrimination lawsuit years ago and friendships. Not by performance. MetLife needs to stop pretending that they are a financial services company. They are an insurance company.
    Experience financial advisors stay away.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop the BS. Be real and professional.
