I worked at Methodist Family Health

    Pros

Working with my spouse is awesome!
    No commuting to work
No rent or utilities to pay
    Good insurance
    Decent pay

    Cons

Almost impossible to get away from work
Stress on family greater than stress from job
Tension between our kids and foster kids
    Frustration with management decisions

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen carefully to your house parents! They need more downtime. 40 hours a week sounds like plenty, but we still have to work over 120 hours on top of that! It's very claustrophobic living in the home with the clients, and it's easy to get attached and frustrated by the children. It might help to have more alternates.-

I have been working at Methodist Family Health full-time

    Pros

Flexible work-schedule allows for working around children's school schedules, doctor's appointments, etc.

    Cons

Benefits are horrible ... health insurance costs are high with many doctor's services not covered or at high co-pays, no holiday pay (must use PTO earned in advance). This is a non-profit organization and the main benefit is knowing the humanitarian services that are being provided. One would definitely not work there for the salary or benefits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is entirely too much gossip and sharing of personal, private information within this small organization. When something happens in a person's life, it is automatically broadcast to the entire company. This is not entirely from a caring perspective. Nothing much remains secret between employees.
