I worked at Michaels Stores part-time (more than an year)

Pros

flexible schedule,good discount,and able to take classes

Cons

no hours at all,completely disorganized,no training at all and have to fend for yourself

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train your employees and please gives people more hours.I loved my time at Michaels but a mother of 4 can't live on 4 hours a week.Not everyone who work there is a teenager.Some people do work here to survive.

    Not many other than that you can easily excel here with minimum effort

    very laidback culture. No challenging initiatives.

    I have been working at Michaels Stores full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    The products are fabulous. You can really help people with projects and the majority of them really appreciate your input. You get first dibbs on reduced merchandise.

    Cons

    It is a good thing for a company to make changes in order to meet the demands of the industry, but it seems like sometimes this company has conflicts within its upper mangements about how they want things to be done. The stores are very short staffed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Spend the money on payroll for your hourly employees at the stores in order to deliver World Class service to the guests. When we are pulled in so many different directions by they customers, we cannot fully help them get everything they need. Our customers need time and attention. A lot of them have never done the craft they are looking into and need a lot of help.
