I have been working at Michaels Stores part-time

Pros

flexible scheduale some room for growth within company, always hiring if you apply to work here apply for the replenishment job they get the most hrs. good job if you have an other job or in school.

Cons

basicly little training whut so ever 90% of the job I hade to learn on my own only 4 hrs a shift some weeks only get 1 day, employees always quiting, start you of slow but if your a good worker you can get up to 20 hrs a week. if your not than you will be lucky to get two days week. minumum wage pay increse after 6 months. 50-60 employees 95% of them get less than 10 hrs a week.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

give your employees more hours (replenishment) take the time to train new hires longer shifts is a must!!! reward your loyal employees

I have been working at Michaels Stores full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Not sure, Love the job at first.

    Cons

lack of training, not enough workers on duty, need more full-time employees, alot of time working off the clock, full-timers are over worked, corporate expects way to much out of people (I believe they are out of touch with the real employees, the people working in the stores. It seems as though they listen to District Managers and above more.

Michael's needs to give out more hours, and have more than one cashier during a shift

I have been working at Michaels Stores part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

You can take any class that is offered for free! Employee discount is fairly good.

    Cons

Hours are barley given as it is, but the manager still finds time to hire more people! Tilts are not counted after ever shift, their counted at the end of the day, so if someone was short before you, you are short as well! A cashier job is not just a cashier, your expected to answer phones, show a customer where something is, oh and at the same time deal with angry people yelling at you because your the only cashier for 5 hours! And depending on the day/time, you may have someone help you at checkout.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop hiring people when, there are not enough hours given out to your staff already. Managers need to stop being lazy and count tilts after each cashier is done, instead of playing the guessing game at the end of the day to see who made the tilt short.
