I have been working at Michaels Stores full-time (less than a year)

Pros

Love the discount and the team in the store. Worked great together BEFORE store of the future

Cons

Store of the Future sucks. No hours to much work, all work put onto Replenishment Team. Manager sits in office all day does nothing to help on sales floor. Replenishment Manager is to busy doing customer service to help out team. District Managers seem to nalways be on power trip. Do not say or do anything agaist them or you will be forced to leave, so sad loosing great people who care.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a close look at your District Managers they should be held to the same standard as your store managers. They do what they want when they want and even if it is wrong there is no where to go. They are not god, even though many of them think they by being rude and disrepectful to the staff. The staff in the stores are the people who do all the work and make the DM look good and bonus. Maybe they need to remember where they came from. Have some compassion and repect for the people making the money for you....

    Only if you have no other possible job

    Cons

    They dont care about their employees. Every task that is assigned is timed and a manager or supervisor is checking up on your progress every ten or fifteen minutes. If you are too slow, in their opimion, they will replace you. Anytime you call out sick, or are more than five minutes late arriving to work or punch out more than five minutes after your scheduled departure time, you are given a point of half a point, it you dont call and dont show for a scheduled shift you get four points. When you reach six points, you are fired.

    Learn some people skills. Dont treat employees with disrespect.

    Pros

    Co-workers and managers who are respectful and courteous. You are treated with respect and know you must to the same with your co-workers

    Cons

    Minimum wage job with unpredictable hours, lots of very rude customers complaining and not reading sales signs. Shifts frequently cancelled at literally the last minute at times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Even a small starting pay increase would reduce high turn over rates
