Pros

Fellow employees were helpful and fun. Certain managers made you want to come to work. Lots. of pizza.

Cons

Certain managers made you want to avoid work. Inconsistent hours. Too much work, not enough personnel, yet expected to complete all. Late hours. Minimum wage.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

None.

    I have been working at Michaels Stores part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Scheduling can be fairly flexible. Enjoy working with some of the other associates. Customers are usually friendly.

    Cons

    The pay and pay raises are quite low for the amount of work expected in the amount of time given to do so.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Share the wealth and reward the people who have earned and deserve it with better pay compensation and benefit packages for part time employees.

    Pros

    Great bonus program based on results.
    Most executives treat you with respect and will try to help you at the store level.
    Bigger company than you think with stores all around the country.

    Cons

    Lots to learn it can be overwhelming, normally takes a couple of years to understand.
    Technology is outdated, trying to catch up fast.
    Not always held to same standards from store to store can be upsetting.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    When managers change stores and things look like they suddenly are struggling dig in several stores look good on the surface but have not been run effectively for years. Takes some time to truly change the culture in a store. Don't reward stores that look good but underlying operations are terrible then next manager looks bad when trying to run operation to company expectations.
