I have been working at Michaels Stores part-time (less than an year)

Pros

Your coworkers will probably be friendly and will usually be in a good mood. Working there is never particularly stressful so you'll probably be in a good mood too. Customers are generally polite and know what they want. Most questions you'll get are things that could answered by reading the label of a product.

Cons

Newer employees may get the less that desirable hours.

    Part time employee give very few hours, so I can understand the turn around.

    I worked at Michaels Stores full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    your co-workers might make you a cake on your birthday

    Cons

    -Everything is horribly overpriced... customers are getting ripped off.
    -Management does NOT care about their staff. Time off and vacations are a joke.
    -schedules will nto be posted until the day before the week starts, or changed mid-week without notice to the employee and resulting in employee punishment for failing to notice the change made 12 hours before the new shift.
    -Little to no training is given to new hires, no matter the importance of their position.
    -The framing department is a complete scam- employeesa er asked to lie outright to customers without their knowledge.
    -management is rude, demeaning, and disrespectful of employees.
    -'corporate' visits often include unprofessional bullying of employees and management.
    -sales signage are misleading and subject to constant customer complaints.
    -the store respects ridiculous hours of their employees... 9-midnight one Friday before Christmas. Really????
    -pay is far too low for the responsibilities expected of all employees, management included.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Go visit some of your stores and witness firsthand the issues in the store before you rely on numbers to fix issues... your store managers lie to you to avoid punishment.
