I have been working at Michaels Stores part-time (more than an year)

Pros

If you have great managers and a great team the work will be easy.

Cons

Your store will more than likely be understaffed and you will work multiple positions. The amount of work that you do will make the wage you're paid feel like a pat on the head.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase payroll so stores are adequately staffed, Replenishment (the backbone of the store) should be paid accordingly, planogram reshuffling should make sense and not feel like a random decision.

I have been working at Michaels Stores full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great people to work with, compensation is competitive, lots of opportunity.

    Cons

Work load versus hours to complete it is sometimes unobtainable and completely ridiculous, no work-life balance.

I worked at Michaels Stores part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

I found the management to be quite kind and considerate most of the time, and many customers were fun to work with. If you like arts and crafts, you may enjoy helping folks find project ideas and supplies.

    Cons

Pay is low, but probably average for entry-level retail. Specialized jobs like framing, floral, and instructors are not paid very well for the amount and type of work they do. Some customers, as in most retail environments, can be very rude. Store is often understaffed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The emphasis on numbers results in low pay, high turnover, and understaffed stores.
Many store processes are redundant and inefficient. Often feels as if we are not keeping up with current retail climates.
