I have been working at Michaels Stores part-time

    Pros

the people hired are usually great and I love working in a store surrounded by crafty ideas

    Cons

not enough people are out working the floor, most employees are scheduled only a few hours a week-making it hard to pay the bills- but then a few have to work to the bone and often go into overtime. here's little to no training and management caves to loud and rude customers who don't read the fine print.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

don't base hours on the amount sold during the day, base hours on the percentage of people that walked through the door AND bought something; we can't control how much people spend, but we can try to keep the customers satisfied and help them enough that they purchase something. Give the workers more hours and have more people scheduled, especially during the holidays. Also, make our employee discount off of sale and clearance items too, it's upsetting that we get better discounts from using the public coupons usually than we do using our employee discount.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
