I have been working at Michaels Stores full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Great environment and people. Company values team and feedback. Reasonable work life balance for retail. Overall good company to work for.

Cons

Sometimes get lost in a large company with frequent upper management changes in the last couple of years Depending on where you are some management more worried about looking good than being good.

Continue on the path you are on. Keep your core values

    I worked at Michaels Stores as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

    Room was always unlocked and stocked with ample chairs and table space. This made teaching very easy for both me and my students.

    Cons

    Did not fully advertise educational classes and if you did not get a minimum number of individuals to sign up for classes you did not get to teach that particular month.

    Keep teaching rooms free of overstock products

    I have been working at Michaels Stores full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Strong employer with growth potential. Reasonably fair in how it treats its associates. The company has a strong focus on its customers, and capable management. Though in debt, the company manages the debt well.

    Cons

    Culture can be difficult for some. High performance expectations can mean pressure is placed on associates to perform. Like many retailers, the challenge is to do more with less.
