I worked at Micron Technology full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Working with cutting edge toolsets, having large budgets to aggressively attack R&D, lots of talented and intelligent senior engineers to learn from. Compensation, benefits, stock options.

    Cons

Mentality that the more time you are at your desk the better worker you are. High burn out rate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cull the weak engineers/technicians/operators from the team regardless of years of service. Put more technical leadership in place and ignore some of the business unit's input.

  2.

Overworked, underpaid, poorly managed, lacking in opportunities

I have been working at Micron Technology full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Location - close to Washington DC

    Cons

Workload - a typical team is understaffed and overloaded with work. Typical complain is being unable to be on top of things. Shift personnel are untrained or lacking in ownership so they always seek first shift support or 'nod'.
Management - or lack of it. Top-heavy, mostly white male. Some got their degrees from Phoenix, de Vry or some online 'school'. Management and leadership skills are acquired thru trial and error at the expense of employees.
Promotion - very minimal. Needs attrition or know someone in upper management a 'la ole boys network
Salary - not enough considering the cost of living here in Northern VA. Some companies in AZ offer the same salary despite lower cost of living.
Business prospect - looks good ... for now. Samsung seems to be winning the business long term.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your workers are your lifeblood. Treat them well and learn to keep them.
