I worked at Microsoft part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    - Join the largest software, services and devices company in the world
    - Enjoy an enthusiastic, excited and forward-looking culture
    - Being connected to such a profitable and connected company has it's perks

    Cons

    - Being the largest software, services and devices company, there can always be unexpected changes from higher-ups
    - While the culture fosters excitement, the reality is often far less compelling
    - Although they are focused on progress, they often miss the lessons of their own history
    - Beware of being beguiled by perks, leading you to compromises of your personal integrity and ethics

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

One associate referred to the cultural indoctrination as "drinking the cool-ade," and he's not far from the mark. There are a lot of shortcomings when it comes to "the next thing from Microsoft," and the culture does nothing to prepare employees for the challenges that await when the truth underneath the shiny exterior comes out. The underbelly of MS culture reveals a desperate need to turn a profit and consider personnel disposable when they do not align with that thinking.

    Pros

Each day at Microsoft is a progressive discovery of how less I know. You name the vendor, the platform,I can give you in writing we will have it deployed somewhere in our network. I unabashedly claim that Our network is the most diverse network in the whole galaxy. Its a humbling experience to work with so many awesome Network Rock-stars and equally incredible leaders/execs.

    Cons

The cross colloboration across teams is not worth the name. I mean One microsoft is more on paper and less in reality.
