Pros

Good Salary, Comfortable Working Environment, Freedom to be successful, good benefits, good projects to be involved with and change the world. Interesting network of colleagues.

Cons

Tough to achieve a perfect work life balance, massive organisation so often difficult to navigate the organisation - still some siloed working which holds some of the major projects back.

    Pros

Great Canteen, variety of people and cultures, good options for movement - if you work at it, strong culture - this can be good and bad as business functions will dictate. You get an good overall view of the organisation - if you want to see it. MS is family friendly and they tend to look after you in the little ways. Relaxed and flexible work environment -some areas exploit it and others don't - depends on function head. One great thing is that if you have a good idea there is room for you to develop it and you are encouraged to do so.. mostly.

    Cons

Outdated culture. Appalling HR performance management system pits peer against peer which leads to one-upmanship, presenteeism, bitching and politics. A lot of Managers/ Snr. managers have been in MS for over 10 years and have not been exposed to real world. For example, mentioning the competition in meetings or presentations has only recently been accepted. The length of time MS has been a monopoly will take years to rectify. This leads to outdated mgmt style and arrogance mixed with ignorance is a dangerous thing.

    Advice to Management

Realise that the world continues to move even if MS has stood still. You need to continuously adapt. There is an over emphasis on optics and perceptions. Get real and stay in touch with those 'beneath you'.

Continue to encourage new ideas. Move out of your outdated offices or at least leave your doors open.
