Lack of a understanding about diversity hinders professional & social growth

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have all of your employees attend diversity training/workshops to gain a better understanding of people from various cultures, age-groups, races and backgrounds. I worked at Mid-America Health full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The owners are wonderful people. They are very warm and caring. I also liked working with the School Smiles program and the accounting staff.

    Cons

There seems to be no business sense. Dental hygienists with no business experience are running the nursing home portion of the business. Operational processes are completely reactive and not proactive, wasting time and money. High school graduate and vocational skilled managers should not be as disrespectful to the educated and trained dentists they have working for them. The polarizing scheduling personnel are one of their biggest problems that's not being reigned in. The management needs diversity training, as most people of color are pushed into the corners with no upward career path (I am white and I blatantly saw this).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire someone with a business degree and business experience to overhaul the nursing home program. Cut your wasteful overhead spending. Polarizing office staff and high school gossip mentality is a real problem for your company.
