Pros

Milestone embodies the Bay Area culture by always staying on the cutting-edge of technology. Management invests a lot of time in training employees and being easily accessible to the employees at all times. Feels like some of the negative reviews on this site are of vindictive nature and posted by an employee who has an axe to grind against the management. I have learnt a lot in the last year or so that I have been with the company.

Cons

Sometimes there are many projects going on at the same time and you constantly have to juggle between multiple aspects of your work. Could do well by organizing more social events and company get-together.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Would be great if employees are enrolled in some sort of team-building exercises at least twice a year. Keep up the good work you have done and make yourself accessible to employees at all times, like how you have been doing. Do not let the negative reviews affect you as it is impossible to keep everyone happy. You are an inspiration to most of your employees.

    Pros

Despite all the mental abuse and verbal insults from upper management as well dealing with a hectic work life, most employees are genuinely nice and smart people who work very hard to help the company succeed.

    Cons

Account Managers are overburdened with a workload that is not feasible for an individual to handle. Upper management does not allow employees to take extended vacations nor take Fridays off. Unproductive Friday meetings lasting up to 3 to 4 hours at a time. Turnover is extremely high; employees are often fired for personal reasons unrelated to their performance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1) Listen and help your employees when they tell you they cannot handle such an unmanageable workload

    2) Stop bad mouthing existing or ex-employees

    3) Do not fabricate stories of failure regarding employees who left Milestone: everyone who left have moved on to greener pastures

    4) Appreciate the employees and realize that they are not robots or machines that can be easily replaced. Milestone is a customer service oriented company; relationships with clients take time to nurture - constant changing of Account Managers lead to clients doubting the stability of the company

    5) Bonuses should not be split into quarterly installments and should not be dependent on whether or not the employee met NEW set of goals

    6) Stop micromanaging employees and trust that they do their work diligently and efficiently

    7) Stop the verbal insults and constant nagging - we are all adults and professional but management find it necessary to insult individuals regarding anything from their appearance, professionalism, work ethnic, etc.

    8) Please do not run away when employees seek for your help dealing with a difficult client

    9) Please show some respect and not fall asleep when we are giving a presentation; it's quite unproductive when we have to repeat the presentation several times over

    10) Understand that lunch hour is lunch hour - taking a lunch for 1 hour is a legal right when the employee puts in 8+ working hours. Do not disrupt, or insist employees bring their lunch in for yet another unnecessary meeting.

I worked at Milestone Internet Marketing

    Pros

1.) Advancement: Employees of Milestone can enjoy rapid growth within the company because of the rapid turnover rate. Account Managers are conveniently hired or promoted due to sudden vacancies when people quit.

2.) Learning: Training is provided but at a fast pace. Senior Managers provide guidance when they have time (they are often busy attending meetings with Upper management or attending to their own clients).

    Cons

1.) Verbal Abuse: Harassment in front of your team happens on a regular basis. There is a lot of politics for a small company.

2.) Poor Upper Management Skills: Lack of respect for other's time. Disrespects employees and talks badly about them behind closed doors.

3.) Micro-Management: Endless internal meetings, process documents, checklists. Employees are questioned when they go get a cup of coffee across the street.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lead by example. Provide constructive feedback instead of disrespecting employees behind closed doors.
