Mindspeed – “Abusive environment starts at the top.

Pros

There are so many things that need to be done that anyone willing to take on responsibility has the opportunity to do so.

Cons

Senior management operates as if all engineers are a commodity that can be interchanged arbitrarily.

CEO is himself abusive and sets a tone for managers to do the same.

Engineers are constantly placed in the position of having to face customers who have been lied to and choose between seeming incompetent or risking exposing the lies.

Projects are manged with negative schedule headroom creating a constant state of emergency, then shipped before they are wrung out leaving customers desperate and angry. This makes for a very unpleasant work environment.

Advice to Senior Management

Return to meritocracy.
