    Pros

    -Flexible when it comes to work-life balance issues
    -Supportive, team-oriented environment
    -Almost all employees are pleasant to work with
    -Interesting and important products
    -Received constructive feedback from manager
    -Upper-level management makes an effort to know their employees
    -Most employees seem to stick around for a long time (10+ years)

    Cons

    -There is very little turnover in the workforce, which is a good thing, but it also means that there are fewer job openings in upper positions. As an entry-level employee, my impression is that it would be a long time before something opens up that I could move into.

    I have been working at Mine Safety Appliances full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    The remote agent program allows you to work from home 1-2 days per week. There are always food days to celebrate something or simply just because. There are different ways that coworkers can recognize your efforts that result in gift cards.

    Cons

    Some days can be very busy especially when people are in training or on vacation. The department needs at least 2 more people to be staffed to the point that people do not get overwhelmed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    An investment in additional resources can help to improve the quality of work and reduce turn over in the department. The doesn't appear to be a contingency plan for when you lose employees. It is all reactive and very slow to react.
