Pros

- CEO is very forthcoming with financial information, and has a strong commitment to sharing information
- Management team is full of all-star e-commerce and printing executives who know what they're doing
- this company is growing fast and very smartly run with regard to the top and bottom lines.

Cons

- can't keep executives team members in the largest department (3 VPs have quit in 3 years, each after working for less than a year)
- don't offer health benefits to "temporary" employees who work year-round
- goals and metrics change half-way through the quarter, tanking your chance at performance incentives
- upper management is righteous about decisions, and inform staff who are negatively impacted that it is their job to "deal with it" - management won't take responsibility for their own (huge) mistakes
- incompetent staff are kept around to make it look like the company doesn't fire people
- if you are unlucky enough to work closely with one of those people, you have to be prepared to pick up their slack and "be a team player"
- most people work without job descriptions or valid offer letters
- "no really, this year we'll fix it" is something regularly heard...year after year after year, apparently
- CEO sends out corrective, shaming emails to people, copying large groups of people at the company, and also has no clue what's really happening in the company, therefore makes snap judgements to "fix" things that barely make a dent in the serious morale issues, and often times just make them worse
- at least one member of upper management has a track record of bullying employees
- entire teams are looking for new jobs, so turnover is about to go from bad to terrible

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember whose backs this company was built on, and treat them with grace and respect. Making people an afterthought has them divest, and that will be the downfall of this company - you won't fail because of sales, you will fail because no one will stick around to make sure that orders get fulfilled.

    Pros

    Great workplace: employees treated very well. The CEO shares good news and bad news very well

    I worked at Minted full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    1. there are some good people there (none of them managers).
    2. listed on the site as a pro is bagel mondays (they don't order enough for everyone to get one) and catered lunches (only once a week and not enough food; subway, panda express)
    3. an option to get receive free dental ($1500/year)

    Cons

    1. contracted temps and permanent staffs get treated visibly differently, even though you work along side them
    2. managers micromanage and don't trust the employees
    3. very high-school atmosphere (lots of cliques, lots of rumors, lots of goofing around)
    4. no opportunity to grow and develop (once you have a position there, you are stuck)
    5. no mentoring (even though managers say they are mentors)
    6. always extending temps contracts (stringing them along for over a year) without compsensation
    7. contracted temps and permanent staff gets paid the same (there are no benefits to becoming full time)
    8. managers will listen to rumors about staff rather than get to know the staff person(s)
    9. there are no raises, no employee reviews, no way of tracking progress (they will just tell the staff person you are not needed because you did not meet standards; but no one knew/knows what the standard was/is)
    10. CEO plays favoritism among staff and departments
    11. CEO and upper management does not listen to what employees have to say or what the needs are to improve the work culture
    12. though company portrays itself as fun, modern, chic and elegant; behind the scene is unhappy workers and crowdsourced designers
    13. CEO and "editorial team" always favors the same crowdsourced designers to keep them happy
    14. HR is/was not educated in benefit policies and always deferred you to a phone number to call for help
    15. HR kept only one copy of health benefits in the office and you couldn't take it home to study the options

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    management needs to figure out a way to not have this high-school work culture. its not healthy. they also need to figure out a way to better treat their employees.
