Pros

Not many. It's a paycheck...

Cons

It is hard to work in a place where there is an expectation to work 50h+/week and there is no work-life balance. During a recession, the 'it's hard out there' was often used as a work incentive. Aastra will never be a technology leader because senior management considers R&D to be a 'non revenue generating department'.

    Pros

At it's core Mitel has some very dedicated people who are great to work with. Salary was competitive, and it was possible to maintain a balance between work and life.

    Cons

Out of touch management. Cost cutting and lack of investment have put Mitel years behind and unable to compete in so many ways, it's only a matter of time before this company fails.

    Advice to Management

Seek out your core people who have kept this ship a float and LISTEN to what they have to say. Stop paying lip service to employees.

    Pros

You can take time off almost anytime you want. Health benefits are ok if you are single, very expensive if you have dependents.

    Cons

Thye treat Canadian employees much better than they treat US employees.Still, the employees concerns are an after-thought, no matter which location in which you work. Continual lay-offs and outsourcing have drained several key departments of knowledge and performance. Stock dropped from It is a public company whose stock has dropped tremendously. More than once the company has frozen pay or done partial-pay in the last 12 years.

    Advice to Management

Lip service is given to the 'our number one asset is our employees'. Mitel doesn't consider what is lost when long-term employees are released. Engineering technology is old and new technology isn't coming around. Very old computers, most are 4+ years old - hard to get repaired, even harder to get replaced. Penny and pound foolish. Richard McBee is too new for me to rate his performance so that will be left as N/A.
