    Pros

One of the market leaders in Mobile streaming technologies. Some very cool and 'bleeding edge' technologies. Work on large scale projects like NFL Mobile. Work with broadcast television Typical Silicon Valley work environment - lax dress code, mixed nationalities, good benefits.

    Cons

Management is more concerned with looking good than getting their hands dirty. Internal politics abound. Inter-departmental cooperation is horrible, depending on the manager they might simply refuse to add resources or assign resources who are not qualified. Being talented is a curse here - you will be worked into the grave! High churn rate - once people realize that this place is a sweatshop they do one of two things: 1) Threaten to leave and possibly get compensated as they should and maybe moved under different management. 2) Just leave The company has 0 culture, it is non-existant - people come in to work and start counting the minutes until it's time to go home, there is no sense of 'team' and you don't walk into work feeling any energy what so ever.. Most people are so beat down they hide in their cubes or don't do anyting unless specifically told.

    Advice to Management

Mobi has a reputation as being a sweat shop, you need to change the management style and CULTURE of the entire company. You need to be a technology company first and foremost - you know you can't be a media company, you don't have billions of dollars to pay for content. So the technology you are making needs to be industry leading. The only way you will be world class is by attracting world class engineering talent - You won't attract Google or Apple engineers with the reputation you have and the managent you have. How can you run an Operations department and nobody has a technical degree? How does the Director of Operations not have a formal education from one of the best schools in the world? Why isn't all of the upper management Ivy League/Stanford/Berkeley graduates with degree's in the hard sciences? You need to have high standards and create incentive that will attract the best of the best. Stop settling. Do ONE THING RIGHT! The biggest problem at Mobi is that you are spread too thing, you support way too many platforms, legacy platforms at that! You are a technology company that specialized in mobile - stop supporting legacy handsets, decide what your core business will be for the next decade and STICK TO IT!! If you take on a huge project with one of the worlds biggest telco's then put everything you have into that project - don't sign on for 3 more projects before you even finish the first - you don't have the resources, you aren't attracting the talent and you are over working you'er people to the point that they eventually turn on the company and leave or simply don't care.

    Pros

Flexible about time off Nice location

    Cons

The software development process is in chaos. There are no real quality control. The problem is managers like to micro manage and do not know understand basics of software development. There are a few smart engineers there, but they cannot perform because managers are clueless and do not understand real basic design principles yet they want to dictate software design.

    Advice to Management

If you want this company to succeed, you need to hire trained managers. Please who know know how manage and delegate work to people who understand what needs to be done. Your engineering managers are incompetent.
