Pros

- Rapid growth creates many opportunities! It's definitely a place where you can extend yourself and get involved in projects outside your area of focus to grow and develop your skills.

- The company is eager to promote from within, great place to go with a long-term mindset.

- Great work/life balance. Results-oriented work environment.

- Fun and creative employees

- Employee discount :)

Cons

- This isn't an early stage startup anymore. If you're considering a job there, just be aware, you are walking into an established company. ModCloth moves fast for its size, but there is inertia and a lot of cross-team collaboration that needs to happen to make big changes.

- The company is a little bit confused about whether it is a technology company or a fashion company, hard to be best in the world at both.

Advice to Management

Focus focus focus. There are so many top-level priorities. We could build better alignment across the organization by simplifying the strategy.

    Pros

    - Opportunities to explore interests and support for growth and development
    - Commitment to balance and an understanding of people's personal needs and the impact on the company's success
    - Remarkably good health care benefits
    - Supportive upper management and a willingness to hear difficult truths
    - Empowerment to address and change problems that you see and care about

    Cons

    - Could have a stronger culture of accountability and focus on results
    - Collaboration and consensus makes it a very supportive place to work, but can also slow progress
    - Many large company priorities mean that resources can be scarce and the overall goal can be forgotten

    Advice to Management

    - narrow company priorities into fewer talking points to better motivate employees
    - maintain an unwavering commitment to results-oriented benefits and compensation

    Pros

    * Insane healthcare plan.
    * Very creative team. Lots of awesome ideas.
    * Very fast growth, particularly for the size.
    * AWESOME employee discount.
    * Fun company activities (happy hours, parties, etc.)

    Broadly, the culture, management and strategy are trending in the right direction. Nothing is perfect, but the management team is getting more seasoned and figuring it out.

    Cons

    * Cash compensation doesn't always seem to be at 'market rates.'
    * Sometimes a lot of competing priorities at once. Hard to keep up.
    * Sometimes the decision-making process (or chain) is unclear.

    The company has two major cultural segments that sometime seem divided. There is a 'creative' organization and a 'technology' organization. They don't always seem to be aligned.

    Advice to Management

    Focus on fewer strategic priorities. Less is more.
