    I worked at Molecular Devices

    Pros

Danaher brought impressive tools to improve the profitability of the business.

    Cons

Very few talents in R&D due to lack of growth and strategy for the last 3 years. Very little money to accomplish goals. Teams laid-off after project completion have taken the moral to its lowest point.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Focus on cutting edge products.

I have been working at Molecular Devices

    Pros

The acquisition by Danaher has brought much needed focus on product sales, quality, and bottom line profit. There have been significant changes to flaten the managment structure, reduce labor costs, improve space utilization, and reduce engineering spend. The result is improved profitability.

    Cons

It is not clear if significant cost savings achieved through Danaher Business Systems will translate into long term organic growth and innovation. The model appears to be growth through acquisition, profitability through cost cutting, and repeat.
Moral is down despite greatly improved financial results.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior management would be well advised to focus on talent retention during the critical transition to full DBS implementation. The company appears to be losing some of the better talent.
